Aldosterones’ major role is to keep water in the body and blood pressure up during the day. To achieve this it makes the kidneys’ retained sodium and thus watered by osmosis thereby fills blood vessels and tissues with more fluid. At the same time, it makes the kidneys secrete some potassium for blood pressure regulation.
