Basic Information

 

Thyroid is the hormone of all the metabolic processes in the body. Too much thyroid hormone results in a condition known as hyperthyroidism such as Graves’ disease, toxic adenomas, subacute thyroiditis, Pituitary gland malfunctions and cancerous growths. Hypothyroidism, by contrast stems from an underproduction of thyroid hormones and causes conditions such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, removal of thyroid gland or drug such as lithium.

 

 

Other hormones related with Thyroid disorders may include Insulin, Growth Hormone, Estradiol, Progesterone, MSH and Testosterone etc.
